Health is wealth
Health
is the biggest wealth for a human being in his/her entire lifetime. One can
survive without excess money but can’t survive without good health. Health is
something that we can’t buy with money but we can take care of it and we can
cure it when needed with the help of the money. If a person is not having good
health, he will not be able to enjoy his/her life to the fullest. Money doesn’t
make a person rich and happy but good health does. Moreover, a person can’t
feel complete and happy without good health. There is a deep meaning
behind “Health is Wealth”. Most people give highest
importance to Wealth in their life. They measure their success by
how much wealth they have with them. But they don’t realize that wealth is not
the most important thing in life. It’s Health. If you loose your health, you
loose your happiness, you loose your wealth, you loose your career, you loose
your peace of mind, and eventually you loose everything. This is why those who
are wise will always tell you to give time to your health because “Health Is
Wealth”
Types of Health -

Physical Health

Mental Health
v
Spiritual Health
Physical activity is an important and
essential aspect of our life to achieve optimum health and wellbeing now days.
Physical activity simply means movement of the body that consumes energy.
According to World Health Organization (WHO) physical activity is defined as
‘any bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy
expenditure’ (such as activities undertaken while working, playing, carrying
out household chores, travelling, and engaging in recreational actions -dance,
yoga).
Mental health includes our
emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel,
and act. It also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and
make healthy choices.1 Mental health is important at every
stage of life, from childhood and adolescence through adulthood. Mental and
physical health are equally important components of overall health. For example,
depression increases the risk for many types of physical health problems,
particularly long-lasting conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Similarly, the
presence of chronic conditions can increase the risk for mental illness
It is difficult to define spirituality. It is the person’s inner truth or blissful experience. Through spiritual pursuit, a person tries to connect with a supreme divine or what most people call almighty God. Such people resort to techniques like silence, prayer, meditation and yoga mostly as individual or collective practice, usually under the directions of a spiritual Guru. Others believe in the self-less service to the mankind as a major pathway for seeking God. They adore ‘goodness’ to see God. World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as, “a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” This implies that we should look beyond biomedical sciences to attain mental and social well-being including spiritual aspect. However, what is the meaning of spirituality, how it influences our health, and what should be doneto develop spirituality is a matter of current interest to both health care providers as well as the patients in particular and civil society in general
Role of Government in Public
Health
The practice of public
health has been dynamic in India, and has witnessed many hurdles in its attempt
to affect the lives of the people of this country. Since independence, major
public health problems like malaria, tuberculosis, leprosy, high maternal and
child mortality and lately, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) have been
addressed through a concerted action of the government. Social development
coupled with scientific advances and health care has led to a decrease in the
mortality rates and birth rates Health system strengthening
Important issues
that the health systems must confront are lack of financial and material
resources, health workforce issues and the stewardship challenge of
implementing pro-equity health policies in a pluralistic environment. The
National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) launched by the Government of India is a
leap forward in establishing effective integration and convergence of health
services and affecting architectural correction in the health care delivery
system in India.
Health information
system
The Integrated Disease Surveillance
Project was set up to establish a dedicated highway of information relating to
disease occurrence required for prevention and containment at the community
level, but the slow pace of implementation is due to poor efforts in involving critical
actors outside the public sector. Health profiles published by the government
should be used to help communities prioritize their health problems and to
inform local decision making. Public health laboratories have a good capacity
to support the government's diagnostic and research activities on health risks
and threats, but are not being utilized efficiently. Mechanisms to monitor
epidemiological challenges like mental health, occupational health and other
environment risks are yet to be put in place.
Health research
system
There is a need for strengthening
research infrastructure in the departments of community medicine in various
institutes and to foster their partnerships with state health services.
UNDER THE NATIONAL HEALTH CARE SYSTEM,
THE GOVERNMENT HAVE LAUNCHED SEVERAL SCHEMES LIKE: -
v Reproductive,
Maternal, New born, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A)
This programme
essentially looks to address the major causes of mortality among women and
children as well as the delays in accessing and utilizing health care and
services. It also introduces new initiatives like the use of Score Card to
track health performance, National Iron + Initiative to address the issue of anaemia
across all age groups and the Comprehensive Screening and Early interventions
for defects at birth, diseases, and deficiencies among children and
adolescents.
v Rastriya Bal
Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK)
This is an important
initiative aiming at early identification and early intervention for children
from birth to 18 years . Defects at birth, Deficiencies, Diseases, Development
delays including disability. Early detection and management diseases including
deficiencies bring added value in preventing these conditions to progress to
its more severe and debilitating form
v The
Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram
The key principle of this
programme is adolescent participation and leadership, Equity and inclusion,
Gender Equity and strategic partnerships with other sectors and stakeholders.
The programme enables all adolescents in India to realize their full potential
by making informed and responsible decisions related to their health and
well-being and by accessing the services and support they need to do so.
v Jan shishu suraksha
The government of India has
launched Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram to motivate those who
still choose to deliver at their homes to opt for institutional deliveries. It
is an initiative with a hope that states would come forward and ensure that
benefits under JSSK would reach every needy pregnant woman coming to government
institutional facility.
v • Since
the rate of deaths in the country because of communicable and non-communicable
diseases is increasing at an alarming rate, the government has introduced
various programmes to aid people against these diseases.
v In India, approximately
about 5.8 million people die because of Diabetes, heart attack, cancer etc
each year. In other words, out of every 4 Indians, 1 has a risk of dying
because of a Non- Communicable disease before the age of 70.
v According to the World
Health Organisation, 1.7 million Indian deaths are caused by heart diseases.
v 5. National
AIDS Control Organisation was set up so that every person living with HIV
has access to quality care and is treated with dignity. By fostering close
collaboration with NGOs, women’s self-help groups, faith-based organizations,
positive people’s networks, and communities, NACO hopes to improve access and
accountability of the services. It stands committed to building an enabling
environment wherein those infected and affected by HIV play a central role in
all responses to the epidemic – at state, district and grassroots level.

tuberculosis control initiative of Government of India with a vision of
achieving a TB free India. The program provides, various free of cost, quality
tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment services across the country through the
government health system.
v National
Leprosy Eradication Programme
It was initiated by
the government for Early detection through active surveillance by the trained
health workers and to provide Appropriate medical rehabilitation and leprosy
ulcer care services.
v Mission Indra Dhanush

Government of India has launched Mission Indra Dhanush with the aim
of improving coverage of immunization in the country. It aims to achieve at
least 90 percent immunization coverage by December 2018 which will cover
unvaccinated and partially vaccinated children in rural and urban areas of
India.

reliable tertiary healthcare services and also to augment facilities for
quality medical education in the country by setting up of various institutions
like AIIMS and upgrading government medical college institutions.
v Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi
Since there are huge income
disparities, therefore, the government has launched several programmes in order
to support the financially backward class of the country. As about 3.2 crore
people in India fall under the National Poverty line by spending on healthcare
from their own pockets in a single year. The most important programme launched
by the government is Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi which provides financial
assistance to the patients that are below poverty line and are suffering from
life-threatening diseases, to receive medical treatment at any government run
super specialty hospital/ institution.

improve the nutrition and health status of children in the age group of 0-6
years, lay the foundation for proper psychological, physical and social
development of the child, effective coordination and implementation of policy
among the various departments and to enhance the capability of the mother to
look after the normal health and nutrition needs through proper nutrition and
health education.
v Rashtriya Swasthya Bima
Yojana is a government-run health insurance programme for the Indian poor.
It aims to provide health insurance coverage to the unrecognized sector workers
belonging to the below poverty line and their family shall be beneficiaries
under this scheme.
How To Maintain Good Health?
There are so many ways to maintain a
good health like good diet, regular exercise and many more. In today’s time
everyone wants to be a health but very few peoples make effort to maintain good
health. Now let’s understand the combination of many factors for good health in
detail
v Stay Hydrated
It’s no surprise that
water is essential to nearly all forms of life. Infact, approximately 60
percent of the human body is made of water—but staying hydrated is a habit
many of us struggle to maintain. While drinking water is simple in and of
itself, it may seem overwhelming to consume enough each day. However, it’s
essential to do so to avoid what happens when you’re dehydrated.
Why it is important
to stay hydrated?
In addition to
avoiding the side effects of dehydration above, getting enough fluids is also
important because it supports many aspects of your health.
Let’s understand the ways how
hydration is important
v Your skin is
made up of about 64 percent water. And without enough fluids in your system,
your skin can lose its elasticity.
v The more elasticity your skin has, the
less likely it is to form fine lines and wrinkles. That said, staying hydrated
may help keep your skin plump and prevent signs of aging.
v Then, if your skin isn’t adequately
hydrated, the work you put into perfecting your skincare routine may
be for naught. You can help prevent dry, rough, and flaky skin
by hydrating your skin from the inside out.
v There are only a small
number of studies exploring the idea that skin physiology is improved by
adequate hydration. Nonetheless, the notion has been widely accepted by
scientists.
v For instance, a 2015 study found that
women who consumed around two liters of water each day for a month
had increased skin hydration.
Hydration Soothes Dry eyes
Your eyes are other organs with high water content. For
that reason, dehydration may compromise your eye health and
potentially result in dry eye syndrome
To
maintain good eye health, drink plenty of water so you can avoid both
irritation an the urge to rub them
Hydration Soothes Mood and Cognition
This reason why
it’s important to stay hydrated may not have crossed your mind. But according to a small 2012 study, your
level of hydration can affect your mood throughout the day. If you
want to live a healthy life so start your day with an apple it will helps you
to maintain good health. Fruits and vegetables
are key parts of your daily diet. Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables of
different kinds may help protect you against heart disease, stroke, and some
types of cancer. It also promotes healthy bowel function. Different fruits
and vegetables are rich in different nutrients. Some fruits and vegetables are
excellent sources of vitamin A (carotenoids), while others may be rich in
vitamin C, folate, or potassium. They also contain fiber and other substances
that are associated with good health. Dark green leafy vegetables, deeply
colored fruits, and dried peas and beans are especially rich in many nutrients.
Most fruits and vegetables are low in calories and filling. Some are high in
fiber, and many are quick to prepare and easy to eat. Eating plenty of fruits
and vegetables makes it easier to avoid getting too many calories. Choose whole
or cut up fruits and vegetables rather than juices most often. Juices contain
little or no fiber.
v The Negative Effects Of Skipping Meals
There are many reasons why people
skip meals. Some may want to lose weight fast, some may be too busy at work or
tied up in business meetings, not feeling hungry, have nothing to eat or arriving
home late. But whatever the reason, skipping meals will have negative effects
on your body.
v Exercise
The
benefits of exercise may sound too good to be true, but decades of solid
science confirm that exercise improves health and can extend your life. Adding
as little as half an hour of moderately intense physical activity to your day
can help you avoid a host of serious ailments, including heart disease,
diabetes, depression, and several types of cancer, particularly breast and
colon cancers. Regular exercise can also help you sleep better, reduce stress,
control your weight, brighten your mood, sharpen your mental functioning, and
improve your sex life.
What
happened when you are doing daily workout?
v
It Reduce chance of
getting heart disease, for those who already having heart disease, exercise reduce
the chance of dying from it
v
Lower risk of
developing hyper extension and diabetes
v
Lower risk of colon
cancer and some other forms of cancer
v
It Improve your mood
and mental functioning
v
It Keep your joint
healthy and bones strong
v
It Helps to maintain
healthy weight
In the end, I
want to say that It is very necessary which everyone should maintain their health to
get free of body disorders and feel good all time however it depends on several
things. For humans health is as much as important that’s why some big
personalities gives their different opinions like: -
Buddha
"Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship".
Mahatma Gandhi
“It is the health that is real wealth and not pieces of gold and silver".
